Steven Henry DuFrane, born on November 9, 1941, in Burbank, California, passed away on February 7, 2026, in St. Petersburg, Florida. A proud military veteran, Steve was friendly, easy-going, and known for his kindness, quiet humor, and steady presence. He had a calm, approachable nature, considered himself a non-frills, simple man, and loved chatting with people—he was always happy to strike up a conversation. He was the kind of person people simply enjoyed being around and was well liked by all who knew him.
Steve shared over 51 years of marriage with his wife, Darlene, with whom he built a life filled with love, laughter, and companionship. He was a proud father to their son, Scott, and a loving father-in-law to Juliana. He was also a devoted grandfather to Savannah and Piersen, cherishing the moments of watching them grow.
A true jack of many trades, Steve enjoyed tinkering and fixing things around the house and took pride in keeping everything organized and running smoothly. He loved watching sports, reading, and traveling—especially exploring different parts of the United States and Europe, where he enjoyed experiencing new places and cultures. He also had a special fondness for the family dogs and cat, appreciating the comfort and companionship they brought.
Steve was preceded in death by his parents, Lawrence and Rosella DuFrane.
He will be deeply missed and fondly remembered by all who knew him. His gentle spirit, friendly nature, steady kindness, and simple, talkative ways leave a lasting imprint on the lives he touched.
A private burial service will be held at Sarasota National Cemetery.
