John V. “Jack” Hendrick III was born October 18, 1949 in Philadelphia, PA and passed away in Largo, FL on March 18, 2026. He was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, and son whose life was defined by his love of family and an unwavering passion for the teams and city that shaped him.
He is survived by his beloved and devoted wife of over 40 years, Pamela (Bennett), sons John IV (Jessica) and Kevin (Melissa), grandson Jackson, and sisters Barbara (Murphy), Donna (Procaccio) and Meg (DeFeo).
He was preceded in death by his parents, John Jr. “Bud” and Alice Hendrick, and his sister, Kathy (McGlone), whose memories remained close to his heart throughout his life.
A proud native of Philadelphia, he attended St. Dorothy’s Catholic School and graduated from Cardinal O’Hara High School. His competitive spirit was born through Philadelphia youth sports and his Catholic League upbringing that extended into all he did. He lived in Pinellas County, FL for nearly 40 years and loved its beaches and quality of life.
Few titles brought him more pride than Dad and Grandad. His dedication to his sons and grandson led to years of coaching youth sports and left a lasting impression on countless players and friends. He not only taught the fundamentals of the game but also the importance of sportsmanship, discipline, and teamwork. His influence reached far beyond the scoreboard through his kindness and love of people.
A funeral mass will be held at St. Patrick’s Catholic Church, 1507 Trotter Road, Largo on March 27 at 11am. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Jack Hendrick Memorial Scholarship fund at the Pinellas Education Foundation.
