Irvin “Irv” Kety, born in Dover, Delaware, passed away peacefully on January 20, 2026, in Palm Harbor, FL.
Irv dedicated his professional life to public service, serving as Environmental Director for the City of Largo, as well as Dunedin, Polk County, and Pinellas County. His expertise also extended internationally through environmental consulting work in Mallorca and Ibiza, Spain. Irv taught various Earth and Environmental Science courses at St. Pete College for over 40 years.
He was dedicated to his synagogue, Congregation Beth Shalom, serving as president in the early 1980s and as a youth group advisor. Irv had an adventurous spirit and a love for nature. As a young man, he spent time working on the HMS Bounty and enjoyed hiking the Appalachian Trail.
He was preceded in death by his father, Samuel Kety, and his mother, Celia T. Kety. He is survived by his partner of over 20 years, Roberta “Robbie” Meyers; his three daughters, Charna Kety (Greg Schmitzer), Jenesa Barrett (Jeremy), and Tila Kety; and his grandchildren, Ava, Liam, and Easton.
