It is with heartfelt sorrow that we share the passing of Elaine Dorothy Braun, who departed peacefully on May 8, 2026, 8 days short of her 87th birthday, at her home in Clearwater, FL with her family by her side. Born on May 16, 1939 in Boston, Elaine was always the heart and soul of her family. A cherished wife to Howard, her beloved husband of nearly 65 years, she was also the proud and loving mother to her two children, Richard (Stacy) and Elayna; an adoring Grams to her grandson, Cory (Brigid); and a devoted cat mom to her fur baby, Valera.
Elaine is survived by her husband, children and grandson, as well her sister Pauline Bean and her brother-in-law Jeff (JoAnne) Braun, and will be deeply missed by her nieces and nephews, their spouses and children. Elaine was preceded in death by sister and brother-in-law Helen and Edwin Cohen and sister-in-law and brother-in-law Susan and Arthur Pollack.
A graduate of Lasell Junior College in Newton, MA, Elaine began her career as a medical secretary before becoming a nurturing wife, skilled homemaker and loving mother to Rich and Elayna. After Howard's career took them to such cities as Minneapolis, MN, Gaithersburg, MD and Chappaqua, NY, they settled in Clearwater, FL, where she and Howard lived for more than 40 years. Some of Elaine’s favorite passions included travel, cooking, mahjong and reading. She loved her puzzles and games, looked forward to watching “Survivor” with her family every week and never met a scratch-off lottery ticket she didn't like. Above all, Elaine treasured time with her family. She was their pillar of strength, their constant source of comfort and their greatest blessing. Her love and legacy will live on in each of them forever.
A graveside service will take place at Chapel Hill Memorial Park, 12905 Wild Acres Rd, Largo, FL 33773, on Tuesday, May 12th at 2pm.
Expressions of sympathy in Elaine's memory may be made to MPN Research Foundation.
