Dr. Jan S. Bender, a dedicated pediatrician and cherished husband, father, and friend, passed away on November 18,2024, at Morton Plant Hospital in Clearwater, Florida. He was born on November12, 1952, in New York City, where his journey began. Dr. Bender devoted his professional life to caring for children, ensuring that they received the best possible medical attention with compassion and expertise. His patients and their families appreciated not only his knowledge but also his warm demeanor and dedication to their well-being.
Outside of his medical career, Dr. Bender had a rich tapestry of interests and passions that shaped his character. He loved to spend time with his beloved dogs, who brought joy and companionship to his life. His fondness for family was evident, as he loved to share stories and brag about his children, Alison and John, always beaming with pride when discussing their accomplishments.
Dr. Bender had an insatiable curiosity for knowledge, often indulging in TV documentaries and action movies, which entertained him in his leisure time. He was a regular viewer of CNN, staying informed about world events and sharing his insights with those around him. Additionally, he found joy in simpler pleasures, such as shopping for food at flea markets and enjoying time by the water while swimming.
He leaves behind his loving wife, Myong, who stood by his side throughout their journey together, along with their wonderful children, Alison and John Bender. He will be deeply missed by his family and all those who were fortunate enough to know him. Dr. Jan S. Bender's legacy of care, love for his family, and zest for life will continue to inspire those who remember him.
Private graveside services will be held at Chapel Hill Memorial Park in Largo, Florida.
