Barbara Galis (Lezberg) of Largo, FL, passed away on November 21, 2025 at the age of 94. She is survived by her daughters Evelyn (Evvy) Bernstein (partner David Kushnick) and Pamela Perlman (husband Bruce), grandchildren Katie and Laura Bernstein, David Perlman (wife Julie), and brother Arnold Lezberg (partner Miriam Moss). Born in Boston, MA on December 7, 1930, Barbara grew up in Brookline, MA. She graduated from Brookline HS and went on to earn a Bachelor’s degree from Boston University. Barbara married Irving Galis (deceased) in 1952 and lived in Marblehead, MA for 30 years. After a career in advertising, Barbara devoted herself to raising a family and became an educator, working in the Salem and Peabody schools until her retirement.

Barbara was a Girl Scout leader and was involved in several volunteer organizations, including Jewish Women International (JWI) and the B’nai B’rith’s Dolls for Democracy Program. She enjoyed gardening, cooking, dancing, playing Scrabble (not Bingo!), spending time with her children, grandchildren, and grandpets, and helping other people.

Private services will be held in Largo, FL.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Jewish Women International (JWI.org) or Random Acts of Flowers Tampa Bay (raftampabay.org). To honor Barbara’s memory and the type of person she was, the family asks that everyone try to do a random act of kindness for someone on December 7th, which would have been her 95th birthday.
